All the ways

Southern living is filled with rigid traditions, whether you wear a sixpence in your shoe on your wedding day or you eat at your grandmother’s table every Sunday after church. Not to say we are set in our ways, but when it comes to tradition we are unlikely to falter. We tend to be creatures of habit, and while our cheese straws are built on traditions as well, they also afford the luxury of versatility. How can you eat them, share them and gift them? Let us count the ways!

  1. A Cheesy Gift
Not to be confused with a corny gift, a cheesy gift is always welcome. Both Heath’s Cheese Straws and Britt’s Spritz Cookies come in a variety of sizes to fulfill your gifting situation. Our Snack Pack contains a dozen 2oz packages for neighbors, teachers, coworkers and coaches. A Ritchie Hill Bakery gift tin in your favorite flavor trimmed with a bow is a wonderful gift to mark an anniversary, graduation or birthday!
  2. Sweet or Savory Game Day Kickoff
Cheese straws check all the boxes for a game day snack, especially with our Sweet & Savory gift box allowing for the best of both worlds. Grab some to watch the game or venture to a college tailgate, even a Saturday morning soccer game! Whether you intend to share or scarf, grab a box to throw into your day bag.
  3. A Favorite Favor
I have so many memories of my dad standing in our kitchen with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, using his trusty cookie press to make line after line of delicious cheese straws to take to any given party. Friends and family always requested Heath's Cheese Straws for porch parties and weddings. For my own wedding in 2011, the wedding favor was little cellophane bags of cheese straws adorned with ribbons in my wedding colors. Not to toot my own horn, but I think as wedding favors go, mine were much better than most!
  4. Add to a Recipe
Look back on past Ritchie Hill Bakery blog posts and you will see that we sprinkle our cheese straws in wherever we can — literally! On deviled eggs, in soups, dips, you name it! If it could use cheese, it could use cheese straws. Try sprinkling a few on top of your own family recipe and see what you think!
  5. As a Solitary Snack
Although there are many reasons to grab your favorite cheese straws, a special occasion is not necessary. As the daughter of Heath Ritchie himself, my freezer is unabashedly stocked with all Ritchie Hill Bakery varieties and I often venture in there to grab a snack for movie night or a rainy day reading session. There is no wrong occasion for cheese straws or Britt’s Spritz.

So how do I love thee? In all the ways! We hope you find a reason to grab a box of Heath's Cheese Straws this season!

Winter wishes,
The Ritchie Family
